ARTIST STATEMENT

Working with clay gives me a creative outlet that helps me decompress from my day job, forcing me to be completely present in the moment and tuned into my senses. I work slowly and in small batches, enjoying experimenting with form and exploring different techniques as I find my voice as an artist. My love of plants is woven into my functional pottery; Iā€™m particularly drawn to the Ginkgo with its sudden shedding of its varied and delicate leaves in the fall. The scientist in me is curious to better understand more of the technical aspects of ceramics, such as glaze chemistry, so I can have better control of my surfaces. So much still to learn!
